Union and Confederate soldiers will once again clash at Reed’s Bridge on the Bayou Meto during the reenactment of the Battle of Reed’s Bridge. A pivotal Civil War battle fought on August 27, 1863, confederate soldiers come to blows as the Union advanced towards the capital city of Little Rock. The battlefield is on the National Historical Register and is considered to be the most well preserved Civil War site in Arkansas. Other activities include demonstrations of military drills, musket training and briefings for the public, as well as demonstrations of everyday civilian life such as cooking and crafts. Admission: $10 adult/$5 child per day or $20 per family all weekend

Witness the thrills as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the "Thunderbirds," headline the bi-annual Little Rock Air Force Base Open House and Air Show. This is the Thunderbirds' first performance since 2005. Hot Springs native Maj. Rick Goodman is set to perform high-flying demonstrations in his Thunderbird No. 6. The Air Force Base is the world's largest C-130 base and will dazzle spectators with amazing aerial and ground events from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces from varying eras. In what is known as a "combat capabilities" exercise, the base's own C-130 aircraft will show what they do in combat: paratroopers will jump in an exciting display of military power and they'll drop heavy equipment and other cargo.
