Description: Celebrate the lighter, not-too-frightening side of Halloween during Benton’s annual “Spook City,” scheduled each October. A safe event geared toward young children and families, Spook City draws in an estimated 8-10,000 people each year. The crowds enjoy safety and space as they roam the lawn at the Saline County courthouse along with six blocks of streets in the heart of downtown Benton. Street corners represent designated “Safe Spots” that are manned by local emergency services who will provide assistance to any person. Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat with more than 100 local community, church and businesses. A Halloween costume fashion show will provide children the opportunity to show off their disguises. Downtown Benton, Inc. plans Spook City with assistance from the Benton Police Department. Regions Bank is the event’s corporate sponsor; however, additional sponsorship opportunities remain for music, inflatable fun houses and petting zoos. Local business sponsorship costs range from $200 - $500; businesses can donate promotional items such as pencils, pads, coupons, rulers, etc. All donated candy must be individually wrapped and purchased at a store.
